True Originality
  • Conversation or discussion between artist and writer inside of me.
  • A :
I should confess something to you. I think, most of my works aren't original enough. I mean, sometimes I just re-draw what I see with my own eyes, I didn't really invent them from my imagination. Sometimes I just combine lots of different stuffs to make the concept that I want to realize.
  • W :
Well, well, let me ask something. What is original from your point of view?
  • A :
Err, you know, something like all great artists do. It's like the amazing artworks just pop out of their mind. I think you did it too. You could just simply write new stuffs. They just pop out of your mind!
  • W :
I don't believe there is such thing called true originality.
  • A :
Why?? Don't all people want something original? Something that just different from the others in an amazing way?
  • W :
Look, let me ask something. Did I invent the words I'm using now?
  • A :
    Of course not!
  • W :
Did I create all information by myself without absorbing from the environment and all influences around me?
  • A :
    I think not.
  • W :
Then you should know that there is no such thing as true originality. Humans have the capability in absorbing information around us, then combine it and improve it to create something, something that has meanings inside. That is what I call as original works.
  • A :
    Agree.
  • W :
So, I think you don't need to be afraid to show the world of what kind of artist that you are. I really mean this, even though I'm not that kind of writer, 'yet'. But this is a small step towards it. See, I show the world that you and me who both are small components inside one person could have a discussion and chat inside of someone's mind!
